Welcome to Rockland Fest 2011
Welcome to Rockland Fest is Rockland County, NY's biggest music event featuring nearly 60 local and regional bands located through out the Tri-state area paired with the hottest up and coming national acts such as A Loss For Words, I See Stars and Hawthorne Heights. Welcome to Rockland Fest will take place on July 8-10 at the Nyack Center, located at 58 Depew Ave. Nyack, NY 10960. Tickets will be on sale online from Brown Paper Tickets, and from any of the local/regional bands performing while an alternate walk-up ticket outlet is in the works. Single day tickets cost $15 in advance and $18 at the door for Friday, July 8th with Saturday, July 9th and for Sunday, July 10th each costing $18 in advance and $21 at the door. A very limited quantity of three day passes will be available for $45 exclusively online from Brown Paper Tickets. This event is produced by In A Can Productions. Welcome to Rockland Fest begain in 2007 as a single day event featuring 23 bands to celebrate the realease of the Welcome to Rockland Vol. 1 DVD, a video compilation which featured live performances from 22 bands filmed at concerts produced by In A Can Productions from January - April of that year at The Nyack Center and Opus Theater. The DVD and Festival were such a success that In A Can Productions founder, Ed Willock, decided to host the concert annually. Welcome to Rockland Fest returned in 2008 as a two day event featuring over 40 bands. In 2009 the festival was canceled due to funding issues. In 2010 a smaller festival concert called the Mid-Summer Mini-Fest was held at the Nyack Center with hopes for a fall return of Welcome to Rockland Fest. Now in 2011, Welcome to Rockland Fest is back in full swing, and bigger than ever. The fest spans 3 days and will feature at least 60 bands, playing on 2 stages within the Nyack Center. Willock says, "I couldn't be happier with how this event has grown. Even with a few bumps resulting from the economy, we've come back and made it a bigger show." In talking about the future of Welcome to Rockland Fest Willock states that, "This event has gotten as big as it possibly can at the Nyack Center. Our goal is to envolve other local promoters to make this thing even bigger next year, and hopefully move it outside" Willock jokes, "that is as long as I survive this year."
